The Prysten House on Finewell Street is one of the oldest surviving buildings, dating back to 1500, and is now a working museum. At the eastern end of Plymouth Hoe stands the Royal Citadel, a large fort built in the 1660s, which was an important defensive structure for more than a hundred years. A further exploration of Plymouth Hoe is rewarded with panoramic views over the city and Plymouth Sound.
