Always an innovator, our original site, Cheapflights.co.uk, pioneered online travel price search and comparison by advertising airfares online for the travel industry. In 2000 we were the first UK dotcom to introduce the then groundbreaking online advertising remuneration model of pay-per-click. As an online media company, Cheapflights Media does not sell tickets but is dedicated to simplifying consumers' search for great deals and also providing them with the best travel guides. Our online advertising model means we do not take a commission or percentage of the fares sold by advertisers on our sites, and as such we remain entirely independent and neutral. Cheapflights.co.uk is therefore a natural starting point for finding up-to-date deals and travel industry information.
Headquartered in London with offices in Boston and Toronto, Cheapflights Media serves advertisers and consumers in nine countries through its international websites and vast portfolio of content and services. Our monthly global traffic regularly surpasses 7 million visits not including blogs. Packed with travel guides, tips and the latest news and information, Cheapflights Media’s sites are online shopping comparison engines that make it easy for consumers in local markets to research, compare and save on domestic and international trips. Notwithstanding its wide choice of published travel deals, Cheapflights also provides breaking news and inspirational travel writing on its UK and US blogs. Additionally, the site has two opt-in, multi-million subscriber weekly UK and US newsletters.
With advertisers who read like a travel industry Who's Who, Cheapflights Media publishes literally millions of deals for airline tickets from more than 250 partners and 600 airlines. We estimate that in 2009 about US$2.6 billion worth of advertising partners’ travel deals were sold via our global network of sites. Furthermore, thanks to teams of travel experts hand-picking the best offerings, our sites can offer visitors a mix of deals that can’t be found anywhere else. Cheapflights core sites provide consumers who have flexible travel schedules the opportunity to discover great deals that suit their pockets and preferred destinations. In 2010, we beta-launched our newest brand, sister sites Zugu.co.uk and Zugu.de. These use real-time meta search technology to pinpoint deals for travellers with inflexible itineraries. Zugu™, is a powerful and simple travel meta search engine that makes it easy to compare and select the lowest available fares online by organising flight options by date, airline and time of day. Zugu™ helps consumers with tight or fixed travel schedules find the best fares based on their own travel needs.
Unlike many in the sector, Cheapflights Media has been consistently profitable since launch and has grown organically out of cash flow without external funding or borrowing. In 2003, Cheapflights Media launched its first overseas site in the US, Cheapflights.com, which now produces 50% of the company's global turnover. Cheapflights' core offering has since expanded on the international stage and currently has a presence in nine countries (Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK and the US).
Cheapflights.co.uk is regularly voted among the UK's leading travel sites, receiving numerous prestigious internet awards and accolades. Amongst many other awards, Cheapflights Media is the only company to have appeared in The Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 fastest-growing UK technology firms list for six years running, as well as the Profit Track 100 in 2009. Cheapflights.co.uk has also been a winner of the Hitwise 'Travel-Agencies' Top Ten Awards for every quarter since early 2002.
