Record sales boost for UK's travel dot.com success
Back to the 2001 Press Releases
Cheapflights.com, Britain's largest independent travel portal, today announced its highest ever viewing figures for the month of July. A record 668,000 unique visitors used the travel site, a rise of 30 per cent compared to 2000 (source: Doubleclick Inc). July 2001 was the second month in which cheapflights.com achieved more than one million visits to the site.
Commenting on the increases, co-CEO David Soskin said: "At a time when our rivals are still spending millions of pounds of their shareholders' money on extravagant advertising campaigns, cheapflights continues to win huge numbers of new viewers by focusing solely on product quality.
The travel sector on the internet is becoming increasingly competitive but we believe that cheapflights' formula of simplicity, speed and neutrality provides a unique advantage
Whilst flight bargains remain at the core of our success, recent moves into cheapnights.com, with its fabulous range of accommodation offerings as well as short breaks and holidays, are proving very popular with our viewers."
Cheapflights and cheapnights have over 250 travel partners including new partners such as Irish specialists Tara Travel, Delta Vacations and Jarvis Hotels.
Editor's Notes: www.cheapflights.com, which was founded in 1996, is the most comprehensive online resource for researching cheap airfares. Its many destination pages also enable independent travellers to research and prepare every aspect of their trip.
Cheapflights recently launched a sister site, www.cheapnights.com, which provides a neutral resource for worldwide accommodation. The site offers more than 60 providers, ranging from large global accommodation search engines to smaller specialist providers.
