Cheapflights Group appoint Heidrick and Struggles to search for Chief Technology Officer

Back to the 2002 Press Releases

The Cheapflights Group has appointed the Heidrick & Struggles International Technology Practice to undertake a search for a new Chief Technology Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technological development of the Group's two leading travel websites - cheapflights.co.uk and cheapnights.com.

Previously the Group's technology department was headed up by an interim Chief Technology Officer, but as the Cheapflights Group increases its investment in technology, it has decided to create a permanent in-house role. It is hoping that a successful market leader can be found to fill this critical role. The successful candidate will be based at the company's West London office.

David Soskin, chief executive office of Cheapflights says: "We have commissioned Heidrick & Struggles to undertake this search on our behalf. Not only is Heidrick & Struggles one of the best known and most experienced executive search firms in the world, they are also a global leader in the field of technology and have a twenty person technology team in London, five of whom specialise in the CTO/CIO field. They have an impressive track record in placing CTOs.

"By commissioning Heidrick & Struggles, Cheapflights is demonstrating a commitment to find the very best person for this critical function. The successful candidate will play a key role in the continuing rapid expansion of our business. The most recent results from the market research firm Nielsen/NetRatings revealed that in August Cheapflights ranked as one of the UK's top ten UK travel sites by audience growth. We are committed to ensuring that this growth pattern continues and we continue to be the public's choice for good value travel deals."

Peter Breen, Senior Partner, Heidrick & Struggles said: "We are delighted to be working with Cheapflights on this CTO appointment, which is critical to the continued success of their business. Heidrick & Struggles continues to work with a broad range of organisations, from Fortune 100 global corporations to young entrepreneurial companies, choosing to work with those who have a genuinely strong business proposition, and future growth potential - Cheapflights fits the bill"
