Make room for Legroom
Back to the 2002 Press Releases
Cheapflights.co.uk, the leading independent UK travel portal, has relaunched its popular Legroom Report* in response to the UK's growing concerns about Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). Cramped airline seating, and in particular shortage of legroom have been named and blamed as contributory factors.
Viewers can find the results of the survey from Cheapflights.co.uk's homepage. Included in the report is a link to a page entitled 'DVT - Facts, Myths and Tips' written by Ingrid Torjesen, editor of the medical journal, Pulse. It summarises the causes and identifies those parties most at risk. It also aims to expose myths surrounding the topic, and gives tips on how to reduce the risk of DVT.
The updated page brings together the results of an independent survey undertaken by Cheapflights.co.uk into charter, scheduled and low cost airlines seat pitch in order to supply viewers with a easy to use comparative guide to what seat pitch to expect on each airline. In Economy Class, results vary from a spacious 35" on some American Airlines aircrafts, to a more compact 30" on some Virgin Atlantic aircraft.
Says David Soskin, chief executive officer, Cheapflights.co.uk: "Our viewers' ease of mind is paramount in our concerns, and we pride ourselves on confronting hot issues. The updated Legroom Report takes us one step further in our goal to arm travellers with the facts before they travel." * Launched July 2001 - END -
