Cheapflights.co.uk revamps booking engine and partners with British Airways and Opodo

Back to the 2003 Press Releases

Cheapflights.co.uk, the UK and Ireland's leading online guide to travel deals has improved its 'Book flights online search' to include Opodo and British Airways, in addition to its existing booking engine partner, TravelSelect.

The new search tool makes shopping round for a cheap flight even easier. Users can input their travel search details once, and check three of the best flight booking engines seamlessly, without re-inputting their query.

This new innovation emphasises Cheapflights.co.uk's neutrality and independence. Now, in one place, consumers have at their fingertips the excellent service of three top online booking services:

Travelselect, a leading travel agent with years of experience and special negotiated deals with airlines.

Opodo, the new online-agency backed by nine leading European airlines.

BA.com, British Airways' own website which offers deals unavailable through travel agents as well as including a flexible-date-search empowering users to find the best deals easily.

David Soskin, CEO of Cheapflights commented: "The newly designed booking engine is one of a number of new improvements to the site. Increasing numbers of consumers, who know their travel dates and want to make a booking on a traditional scheduled airline, want to shop around quickly and easily. This search allows them to do so. We have chosen these three partners because we believe that they are at the forefront of technology, have keen pricing policies, and will assist us in providing viewers with a comprehensive and simple to use booking experience. This advance helps maintain Cheapflights.co.uk's position as the No. 1 guide to travel deals, across flights, short breaks and holidays. "

Notes to Editors: Cheapflights pioneered internet travel in the UK in 1996. Cheapflights does not sell flights, or holidays, but provides an online guide to the best travel deals from across the travel industry. An external audit of site traffic in January 2003 showed that Cheapflights.co.uk had 1.3million unique users (ABCe). The company conservatively estimates that use of the site by consumers has led to travel product sales of over £300 million a year by the 500 travel industry advertisers on the site. These advertising partners range from large companies like British Airways and Thomson to specialist operators like Barwell Travel and Serenity Holidays.

Cheapflights' mission is to be the number one guide to travel deals within each market in which it operates. In addition to Cheapflights.co.uk, Cheapflights Ltd owns a number of travel websites, across different international markets, and also operates Cheapnights.com, the global accommodation website.
