Cheapflights offers increased visibility for its advertising partners

Back to the 2004 Press Releases

Cheapflights.co.uk, the No.1 guide to flight deals, has introduced new functionality to its website to help airlines, tour operators and retailers shift unsold summer inventory.

David Soskin, CEO of Cheapflights commented: "Long gone are the days when flights departing in the main summer period were sold out months in advance. At Cheapflights, we have always been able to display the cheapest offers from our partners. Our new functionality allows us to display our advertisers’ higher priced flights in addition to this. The new tabs on our 100 busiest destinations permits our partners to show offers specifically for departures during the peak season. There are three travel periods – Early Summer (28 May- 16 Jul), Peak Summer (17 Jul – 22 Aug), Late Summer, (23 Aug – 30 Sept)."

Since launching the new peak season sections to its website, Cheapflights has displayed a further 100,000 additional flight deals. More than 30% of Cheapflights users have been searching for these travel periods and this is expected to rise as more and more consumers look for last minute summer flights.

Notes to Editors: Cheapflights Ltd pioneered Internet travel in the UK in 1996. The Cheapflights’ network does not sell flights, or holidays, but provides a lightening-fast way to comparison shop from the best travel deals from across the travel industry.

Traffic data in March 2004 showed that Cheapflights.co.uk and sister site Cheapholidaydeals.co.uk had nearly 1.5 million unique users (source: ABCe). The company conservatively forecasts that use of the site by consumers will lead to travel product sales of over £500 million by over 700 travel industry advertisers on the site. These advertising partners range from large companies like British Airways and Thomson to specialist operators like Barwell Travel and Serenity Holidays.

The Cheapflights’ network mission is to be the No.1 guide to travel deals within each market in which it operates as well as the best online referral option for its advertisers. In addition to Cheapflights.co.uk and Cheapholidaydeals.co.uk, Cheapflights Ltd owns a number of travel websites, across different international markets. Its other principal sites are Cheapflights.com for USA users and Cheapaccommodation.com, the global accommodation website.
