Cheapflights.co.uk, the UK’s leading travel price comparison website, today released its predictions for the ten destinations set to experience growth in 2006, with Dubrovnik firmly situated in the number one position.
The Croatian city secured the top spot as searches to this destination surged by over 100% over the course of 2005, and show no sign of slowing down. This percentage increase in searches for flights is almost two times greater than the increase experienced by the location securing second place – Bulgaria.
Other destinations on the list include Honolulu, currently experiencing interest due to the popularity of the Channel 4 television sensation ‘Lost’, Costa Rica, Eilat and Berlin.
The projected list of hot travel spots was generated based on comparisons between the total number of searches conducted by Cheapflights users in November 2004 compared to the same figure for November 2005.
Liz Faherty, director of business development for Cheapflights.co.uk says: “Next year will be all about three things: value, adventure and The World Cup. Destinations that offer money savings or advantageous exchange rates such as New York City and Buenos Aires are generating positive consumer interest, while untouched locations that combine adventure with an unspoiled atmosphere are also proving to do well.
“Eilat and Costa Rica are particularly benefiting from the growing number of charter flights to both locations, with more flights expected to take off to both regions in 2006.”
