Cheapflights shortlisted in Travolution Awards 2008

Cheapflights Ltd. ("Cheapflights" or "the Company"), a leading UK and North American internet media travel company, which pioneered online flight price search and comparison in 1996, is pleased to announce that it has been shortlisted in the prestigious Travolution Magazine 2008 Awards in the Best Meta Search Site/Price Comparison Site category. The Travolution Awards recognise the best operators, agents, portals, digital marketers and suppliers in the travel and industry, and this year enjoyed a record number of award entries. Winners will be announced in London on April 24.
Cheapflights, from its inception, has always been an innovator. It was the first dotcom to introduce the travel price search and comparison model helping to broaden the travel industry’s marketing reach by allowing them to publish their current deals on an independent site with growing traffic. In 2000, Cheapflights was subsequently the first UK dotcom to introduce the now universal pay-per-click advertising model. By allowing advertisers to publish their deals free and paying only for high quality leads, Cheapflights enabled the “long-tail” of smaller travel operators to access the growing number of consumers using the internet to plan and purchase flight and travel deals. Cheapflights has been consistently profitable since its launch and is one of the very few UK dotcoms to successfully launch in the US (May 2003) and more recently in Canada (April 2007).
