Carry-on: two items are permitted with a maximum weight of 10kg. The standard item must not exceed dimensions of 23 x 40 x 55cm and the personal item must not exceed dimensions of 16 x 33 x 43cm. Personal items can include carry-on suitcases (wheels and handles included in the size), briefcases, laptop computers, diaper bags, camera cases, cartons or other similar items.
Checked: maximum number, weight, and linear dimensions vary by class. Economy: two items permitted, each not exceeding 23kg and 158 linear cm (length + width + depth). Executive Class and Executive First: three items, each not exceeding 32kg and 158 linear cm. The total weight of all three items is not to exceed 69kg. Air Canada Elite and Super Elite: four items, each not exceeding 32kg and 158 linear cm. The total weight of all four items is not to exceed 92 kg. Premium Economy Class, International: two items, each not exceeding 23 kg or 158 linear cm.
Excess: fees will be charged for all oversized, overweight or extra items. For oversized and overweight bags there is a charge of $50 CAD (£25) per bag for flights within North America and $75 CAD (£36) for international flights. For extra bags, there is a charge of $125 CAD (£62) per bag for travel within Canada, the US and Mexico, or $225 CAD (£112) per bag to all other destinations.

Changes can be made as long as the ticket purchased was not a non-refundable ticket. Charges will apply. If you are travelling on a non-refundable ticket, Air Canada will be unable to make exceptions in the event of an unexpected trip cancellation or medical emergency so the airline recommends the purchase of travel insurance.

Children under two years travel for free when seated on an adult's lap on domestic flights (the adult must be over 16). Only one child is allowed per adult. If one adult is travelling with more than one infant under two, a seat must be purchased for each additional infant, at full adult cost. Children under two years travelling internationally on an adult's lap pay 10 per cent of the adult fare.

Air Canada used to carry pets in the cabin, but discontinued this service in 2006. Pets are now only allowed to travel in the hold, during the summer months (March 31 to November 1) and not if the outside temperature is expected to fall below zero. Pets must travel in containers (which can be purchased from Air Canada online) and must be booked on the flight by calling the reservations number at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. No pet weighing more than 32kg will be accepted. No birds are accepted.Guide dogs are carried in the cabin free of charge.

Air Canada provides a complimentary meal service with a choice of two main meals, breakfast service, complimentary hot and cold drinks and alcohol on all international flights. There is also a selection of special needs menus that can be booked in advance at the reservations number. On all North American flights there is a cafe from which food can be purchased.
