American Eagle – flights and information

Airline Overview

The regional partner of American Airlines, American Eagle flies to more than 150 destinations in the US, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Founded in 1984, the airline calls itself the world's largest regional system. It operates from eight hub airports across the US. American Eagle shares a frequent flyer programme and alliances with its parent, American Airlines, and flights are scheduled to coordinate for connections between the two carriers.

Domestic travel: 60 minutes without bags to check-in, 90 minutes with bags to check-in.

Domestic departing from Hawaii or US Virgin Islands and international (with exceptions listed below): two hours

International departing from Aruba, Mexico, Nassau and Port-au-Prince: three hours.

Baggage

Hand Luggage: One item is allowed per person, with a maximum linear size of 114cm (45in) (length + width + height) and a maximum weight of 18 kg (40lb).

Checked: Two items allowed per person; maximum linear size 158cm (62 in) and maximum weight of 23kg (50lb) each.

Passenger Change Details

Passenger details can be changed, but a fee of $25-$100 (£10-£50) is incurred, plus any extra costs if the new ticket is priced higher.

Child Fares

Infants under two years of age who travel within the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands can travel seated on an adult's lap for free.Infants under the age of two are eligible for a 50 per cent discount off the applicable adult fare for a separate seat, but this must be booked at the same time as the accompanying adult(s). No children under five are permitted to travel alone.

Senior Fares

American Airlines, American Eagle and AmericanConnection may offer Senior Fares in some domestic markets for seniors 65 years or older. For further information, call American Airlines Reservations.

Pets

Cats and dogs can be carried in the cabin on domestic flights and flights to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. A fee of $80 per kennel applies. Pets can travel as checked luggage to the same destinations and also South America. A fee of $100 applies. Reservations must be made by telephone (see number below).

Carrying Musical Instruments

Small musical instruments can be carried on board providing they meet existing carry-on size requirements and fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. The instrument is considered the passenger's one allowed carry-on bag.If an instrument is too large to fit in the carry-on baggage space, an additional seat may be purchased. In this case, an instrument must travel in a window, bulkhead seat, with the customer in the adjoining seat. Due to their size, bass fiddles are not accepted in the coach cabin and are only accepted on certain aircraft types.

Complimentary non-alcoholic drinks are available on every flight. Beer, wine, snack boxes and cashew nuts are available to buy. Prices from $2-$5.
