Lufthansa (Deutsche Lufthansa AG) is the largest German airline, headquartered in Cologne. Its main bases are at Frankfurt International Airport in Frankfurt (Lufthansa's primary traffic hub) and Franz Josef Strauss International Airport in Munich. There is a secondary hub at Dusseldorf Airport. The airline flies domestically and internationally to almost 200 destinations. Lufthansa is a founding member of the Star Alliance, one of the world's major airline partnerships.

There are different rules for different classes and check-in times vary according to your departure airport. In general, economy class passengers should check in between 90 and 120 minutes before their flight is scheduled to depart.
Previous night check-in is available at 12 German airports as are WAP and SMS check-in. Lufthansa passengers can also use quick check-in machines. etix passengers (electronic ticket) can check-in online for same-day flights, starting at 6am for following-day flights. AirRail check-in is also available at German airports.
Hand luggage: one piece is allowed, with maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 20 cm, not weighing more than 8kg.
Checked: Within Europe there is no maximum number of bags, but a maximum weight allowance of 23kg. Children under two years have a free baggage allowance of 10 kg.
Excess: charges are based on the "zone" of travel. For travel to and from the UK, the charge is €10 per kg.
Available. Lufthansa passengers may reserve seats on inter-continental flights up to 24 hours before departure.
