Airline Guide for United Express

Airline Overview

Eight separate regional airlines operate under the name United Express, which itself is a regional arm of United Airlines. United Express flights are specifically scheduled to connect with other United services. Hubs are at Portland International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma.

Check-in

Desks close 90 minutes before departure. If connecting to United, Ted, Star Alliance or other code share flights, passengers will be checked in to their final destination and receive a boarding pass for all flights.

Baggage

Hand luggage: one bag and one personal item such as a handbag, briefcase, or laptop computer. Bags must fit under your seat or in the overhead bin and should not be more than 22 x 36 x 56cm or (114 linear cm (length + width + height).

Checked: two items free of charge with a maximum size of 158 linear cm and maximum weight of 23kg each.

Passenger Change Details

Tickets purchased through external ticketing sources (travel agencies, online travel agencies, other airlines, etc.) will be charged a reservation servicing fee of $10 (£5) for voluntary changes. This fee does not apply to tickets purchased directly from United Express through united.com, flyted.com, United Reservations, Airport Ticketing Offices or Star Alliance partners.

Same day change: passengers can confirm a seat on an alternate flight on the same day of travel anywhere United Express flies within the United States and within four hours of the time of request. If seats are available on an alternate flight, the change will be confirmed for a $25 (£12.50) fee.

One child less than 24 months may travel free.

Passengers 55 or older can enjoy substantial savings through the Silver Wings Plus program.

Pets

Dogs or cats can travel in the passenger cabin with you or as checked baggage or unaccompanied as cargo. All options require advance reservations and are subject to a charge.

Carrying Musical Instruments

Standard baggage allowances apply. A separate seat may be purchased to carry a large or fragile instrument instead of checking it. It's a good idea to make arrangements for large instruments prior to the date of departure. Checked items that exceed the standard allowance are subject to additional fees.

Dependent on the flight. A quarter of United Express flights now offer explus service, which includes a meal service.
