bmi's low-cost baby flies to 25 popular city-break and holiday destinations in eight countries from several airports around the UK including London Heathrow, Belfast (City and International), Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Norwich. Irish departure airports include Cork, Dublin and Ireland West Knock.
- Check-in times: desks open two hours before departure and close 30 minutes before take-off. Online check-in is available for flyers with just hand baggage.
- Baggage allowance: one standard piece of hand luggage, with maximum dimensions 55x40x20cm. There is no weight restriction, but passengers must be able to place the bag in the overheard storage bins without assistance. bmibaby charges for checked luggage, £4.99 per item of baggage/per one way flight if booked online. Adding checked luggage by telephone or at the airport will cost £10 per item per one-way flight. Each flyer is allowed a maximum of five pieces of luggage per one-way flight up to 20kg (44lbs). Infants have a baggage allowance of 5kg (11lbs). Baggage allowances cannot be combined. Excess baggage rates are £6 per kg. The maximum weight of any one item of baggage is 32kg (70lbs). Carriage of items such as surfboards and golf clubs cost £20 per sector per item, subject to space availability.
- Change the passenger name or flight: name changes can be made via the call centre (a minimum of two hours prior to departure within opening hours - 8am to 8pm) and cost £30 per passenger, plus any upgrade fee. To change an existing booking click the "your bookings" link and follow the steps. The cost is £20 per sector, plus any upgrade fee. Changes can also be made by telephone (0871 224 0224) for an additional £5 per sector charge. The return flight can be changed at the airport on the day of travel if there are seats available for a fixed fee of £35.
- Child fares: none. Infants under the age of two travel for £7.
- Pre-assigned seating: yes. The airline allows you to reserve your seat while you are booking (online) for a fee of £5, or it will allocate a seat at check-in. Seats with extra legroom can be booked for £10.
