The gateway to South Australia, Adelaide Airport was opened in 1955 and now serves more than six million passengers a year and about 12 airlines. It is situated west of the city’s central business district. The airport recently announced a solar installation contract. When completed it will be the second largest of its kind in Australia and will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 160 tons per year.

Taxi: There are taxi ranks at the Domestic and International terminal forecourts (journey time to the city centre: 15 minutes) and all taxis are metered.
Bus: The Skylink Airport Shuttle operates every 30 minutes from the terminals during flight operation hours and links the airport with the city centre.
Money and communications: There are several bureaus de change, public telephones and ATMs, as well as free Internet access throughout.
Eating and drinking: There are restaurants, bars and cafes at the airport.
Shopping: There are newsagents, clothing and gift shops and duty-free shops.
Other facilities: There is a children's playroom and a prayer room on the departures level.
