Cairo International (CAI)www.cairo-airport.com is 22km (13 miles) northeast of the city at Heliopolis.

To/from the airport: There are bus services every 30 minutes, and taxis are available. Special limousines are offered by local and international operators. Hotel cars may also be available.

Facilities: Incoming and outgoing duty-free shops selling a wide range of goods, car hire, post office, bank/bureau de change, restaurants and bar, hotel reservation service, souvenir shops, bookshop and travel insurance services.

Cape Town (CPT) (Cape Town International)www.airports.co.za is 22km east of the city (journey time - 20 minutes).

To/from the airport: Round-the-clock shuttle buses meet incoming flights. Courtesy buses are operated by some hotels. Taxis are available, with a surcharge after 11pm.

Facilities: Duty-free shop, car hire, bank/bureau de change, ATMs, post office, tourist information desk and restaurants/bars.

Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) (Dar es Salaam International) www.tanzaniairports.com is located 12km (8 miles) southwest of Dar es Salaam.

To/from the airport: Taxis, usually unmetered, are available and take between 20 minutes and an hour to reach the city centre depending on traffic. Many hotels provide transport on request. A shuttle bus service meets all flights and can take travellers to the city centre for TZS 150. Local car hire companies operate at the airport.

Facilities: Post office, banks, a bureau de change, restaurants, cafeterias, bars, wireless Internet connection, business lounge, duty free shop, newsagent/tobacconist, pharmacy, gift shop, travel agent, and tourist help desk.

Durban International Airport (DUR):www.airports.co.za is 18km (11 miles) southwest of the city.

To/from the airport: Airport shuttle buses and taxis are available to the city.

Accra (Kotoka International Airport) (ACC):www.gcaa.com.gh is 10km (6 miles) north of Accra.

To/from the airport: Taxis to the city are available.

Marrakech-Menara International Airport (RAK): is located 6km (4 miles) to the southwest of Marrakech.

To/from the airport: Bus 11 is supposed to run to the old Arabic heart of the city, the medina, every half an hour, but services can be unpredictable. There are taxi phones in the arrival and departure lounges and taxis can be caught near the bus stop.

Facilities: Banks, ATMs, a post office, a restaurant and snack bars, duty-free shops, general shops, a medical centre and tourist information. Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz all provide car hire services.

Mohammed V International Airport (CMN):www.onda.ma (in French) is 30km (19 miles) south of the city.

To/from the airport: There are taxi services into Casablanca and train services available to Rabat.

Facilities: Outgoing duty-free shop, post office, banking and bureau de change, restaurant, bar, tourist help desk and car hire.

Murtala Muhammed Airport (LOS) is 22km (14 miles) north of Lagos.

To/from the airport: Taxis to the city (journey time - 40 minutes) are available.

Facilities: Restaurant, bar, snack bar, bank, post office, bureau de change, duty-free shop and car hire.

OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) (JNB)www.airports.co.za is 22km (14 miles) east of the city.

To/from the airport: Shuttle bus services and taxis to Pretoria and Johannesburg are available. Courtesy coaches are operated by major hotels within the vicinity of the airport.
