Alicante Airport, lying southwest of Alicante, welcomed more than nine million visitors in 2008. The airport is the gateway to the Mediterranean coast. Most of the visitors to the region come from the UK, Germany and Holland, but there is also domestic traffic to Barcelona, Majorca and Madrid.

Taxi: Taxis are available at the airport (journey time to Alicante: 15-20 minutes). The taxi rank is situated in front of the Arrivals hall.
Bus: Scheduled buses run every hour to/from Alicante central bus station. Other services run to Benidorm and Murcia. All buses depart from opposite the Arrivals hall.

Parking is available at the airport in two car parks with a total capacity of 1,500 spaces. One car park is located opposite the terminal building and the other next to it; long- and short-term parking rates are available.

Money and communications: Facilities include bureaux de change, ATMs and a post office.
Eating and drinking: There are bars and restaurants, a fast-food outlet, an ice cream parlour and a cafeteria. Eight cafés and four restaurants are located in the Costa Blanca Plaza, the airport shopping and entertainment centre.
Shopping: Shops include newsagents, tobacconists, gift and jewellery shops, a music store, cake shop, sports and shoe shops, CD and video store, and three duty-free shops.
Luggage: There are lost property offices on the ground floor. There is no left-luggage facility at the airport.
Other facilities: There is a 24-hour first aid service and a pharmacy.

There are no hotels at the airport. The Holiday Inn Alicante-Playa de San Juan (tel: +34 (0)96 515 6185) is 3miles (5km) from Alicante. Sidi San Juan Hotel (tel: +34 (0)96 516 1300) is a five-star hotel 9 miles (15km) from the airport. There is a designated area outside the terminal building for dropping off disabled passengers. There are also designated parking spaces for disabled passengers in the airport car park opposite the terminal building. The airport has lifts, ramps and disabled toilets; wheelchairs are available on request; passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.

Conference and business facilities are not generally available at the airport although there is a Ifach VIP Lounge on Departures level 1, offering phone, fax, photocopying and internet access for business class passengers. Holiday Inn Alicante-Playa de San Juan (tel: +34 (0)96 515 6185), which is 3 miles (5km) from Alicante, can provide conference and business facilities for up to 150 people.
