Formerly known as the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport, it was renamed in 2003 in honour of Bob Hope, the popular comedian who died earlier that year and who had kept his private airplane at the airport. Bob Hope Airport serves the Los Angeles area including Glendale, Pasadena, and the San Fernando Valley. Annually, more than five million passengers fly on seven major US carriers.

Rail: Local commuter trains, Metrolink and Amtrak, both serve the airport station, which is situated on Empire Avenue, at the south entrance to the airport. The station is within walking distance, but an airport tram shuttles passengers the short distance to the station. Metrolink services run regularly to Los Angeles Union Station and other destinations, while the Amtrak ‘Pacific Surfliner’ train travels between San Diego and San Luis Obispo and stops at Bob Hope Airport 10 times daily (five northbound, five southbound). The five southbound trains stop at LA Union Station and four continue on to Orange County and San Diego. After departing Bob Hope, the northbound Pacific Surfliner stops in Camarillo, Oxnard, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. For more information call 1 800 USA RAIL or visit www.amtrak.com.
Taxi: Taxis and shuttles are available from the airport, departing from the islands in front of the terminal building.
Bus: The airport is served by MTA public buses, which run to Hollywood (bus no.163), Burbank (bus no.165) and downtown Los Angeles (bus no.94).

Money and communications: A bank is situated at the main entrance on Hollywood Boulevard, near the economy car park C. There are ATMs located around the terminal.
Eating and drinking: There are various snack bars and restaurants.
Shopping: There are various gift shops within the terminal, including newsagents.

Other facilities: There are several rest rooms at the airport and also a shoeshine service.

The Hilton Burbank Airport and Convention Centre (tel: +1 818 843 6000) is situated opposite the main entrance to the airport and is connected to the airport terminal by shuttle bus. There are two conference rooms available to the public on a pre-arranged basis; reservations can be made through the airport’s Operations Department (tel: +1 818 840 8833). The Glendale Room accommodates 12-15 people and the Skyroom can seat 195 people. Both are hired by the hour or in three-hour blocks. The nearby Hilton Burbank Airport and Convention Centre (tel: +1 818 843 6000) offers extensive business and conference facilities.
