Detroit Metro Airport welcomed more than 36 million flyers in 2008, making it the 12th-busiest airport in North America. There are 24 airlines – scheduled, commuter and charter – operating from the airport’s three terminals (Berry, Smith and McNamara).  Construction of a new 26-gate terminal complex is under way.

Getting into Town

Road: Taxi: Taxis are available from Metro Airport Taxis (tel: 800 745 5191 toll free). Limousines: Limousines are available from Metro Cars (tel: 800 456 1701 toll free). Bus: Smart buses run services to central Detroit from the outer roadway (lower level) outside Smith Terminal, near the ground transportation offices.

Car Parking

There are several car parks offering hourly, daily and long-term parking. A free shuttle service is available between all terminals and car parks, stopping at the first level of the Big Blue Deck long-term car park and at pick-up points in the surface car parks. Information Desks

Staff in green waistcoats are designated customer service agents who can provide airport, hotel, transport, shopping and local information (tel: +1 734 247 7678). There are also customer service points situated throughout the terminals.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: Bureaux de change and ATMs can be found in all three terminals. Wireless Internet is available in the McNamara Terminal.
Eating and drinking: The McNamara Terminal has a wide selection of bars, cafés, fast-food outlets and restaurants; the Smith and Berry terminals have a smaller selection.
Shopping: There are numerous shops at the airport, including duty-free outlets.
Luggage: There are lost property services in the McNamara Terminal (tel: +1 734 247 3300) and in the Smith and Berry Terminals (tel: +1 734 942 3669). Other facilities: These include baby-change facilities and children’s play areas.

Airport Hotels

The Westin Detroit Metropolitan Airport (tel: +1 734 942 6500) is located at the airport, near the McNamara Terminal. The Detroit Airport Marriott (tel: +1 734 729 7555) is situated 0.5 miles (1km) from the airport. Hotels close by include the Courtyard Detroit Metro Airport Romulus (tel: +1 734 721 3200), Doubletree Metro Airport (tel: +1 734 467 8000), Days Inn at Detroit Metro Airport in Romulus (tel: 734 946 4300) and the Fairfield Inn (tel: +1 734 728 2322) amongst others. Airport Disabled Facilities

Reserved disabled car parking spaces are available in the airport’s car parks. Shuttles are wheelchair-accessible. Disabled passengers are advised to call AMPCO parking services in advance for further instructions (tel: 800 642 1978). Wheelchairs and assistance from airlines are available on request; passengers should contact airlines prior to travel for further help.

Airport Conference and Business Facilities

The Westin Detroit Metropolitan Airport (tel: +1 734 942 6500) offers a fully equipped business centre, 26 meeting rooms and two board rooms, and a ballroom, accommodating up to 1,000 delegates. The Detroit Airport Marriott (tel: +1 734 729 7555), located just beyond the Smith Terminal, offers conference and banquet facilities.

The airport can be accessed from two major interstate motorways: the I-94 Middlebelt/Merriman Road, exit 198, which turns into Rogell Drive, and the I-275 Eureka Road, exit 15.
