Aberdeen Intl

Aberdeen Airport (ABZ)www.aberdeenairport.com The airport is situated 11km (7 miles) northwest of Aberdeen.

To / from the airport: Aberdeen and Inverness train services run from the local station at Dyce, which is just a short taxi ride from the airport. Regular bus services operate from the airport to Aberdeen city centre for around £1.30. Services are less frequent at weekends than on weekdays.

Facilities: left luggage, bureau de change, bars, duty free, business facilities, play area and a restaurant. Parking: Long and short-term parking is available. Long-term car parking can be booked via the airport website or on arrival at the airport.

Aeroporto da Portela de Sacavem

Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS):www.ana-aeroportos.pt is located 7km (4 miles) north of the city.

To / from the airport:: Carris buses run from the airport to the city and the main railway stations. A special 'Aerobus' departs to the city centre every 20 minutes during the day. Taxi services to the city are available, with a 20 per cent surcharge between 9pm and 6am, on weekends and on holidays.

Facilities: Bureau de change, banks, tourist information, post office, duty-free shops and car hire.

Alicante

Alicante Airport (ALC):www.aena.es is located 11km (7 miles) south of Alicante.

To/from the airport: Taxis are available at the airport. The taxi rank is situated in front of the Arrivals hall. Scheduled buses run every hour to/from Alicante central bus station. Other services run to Benidorm and Murcia. All buses depart from opposite the Arrivals hall.

Facilities: bureau de change, ATMs and a post office, bars, restaurants and shops. There are lost property offices on the ground floor. There is no left-luggage facility at the airport. There is a 24-hour first aid service and a pharmacy.

Arlanda

Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN):www.arlanda.com is located 43km (27 miles) north of Stockholm.

To/from the airport: The airport has three railway stations: one (under SkyCity) for long-distance destinations including Trondheim and Göteborg, and two (one under Terminal 5 and one with exits to Terminals 2, 3 and 4) for frequent express trains to Stockholm. Taxis run from directly outside the terminals. Buses run to Stockholm City.

Facilities: Duty-free shops, car rental, banks, bureau de change, children's play area, lost luggage and restaurant/bar.

Barajas

Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD):www.aena.es is located 12km (8 miles) from the city.

To/from the airport: The airport is served by regular buses, the metro system and taxis. The airport bus connects to the Plaza de Colon, departing from the Arrivals level of each terminal every 15 minutes day and night. Trains run daily, linking to the city and stations connected to the main rail network. There are official taxi stands outside each terminal, and visitors are advised to use these rather than unofficial taxis. Journey time to the city centre is around half an hour.

Facilities: Facilities at the airport include banks, currency exchange, ATMs, shops, restaurants and bars, chapels, business centres, a post office and pharmacies. The new Terminal 4 has a Turkish bath, and foot spa and hydro-massage area. Disabled facilities are good; those with special needs should contact their airline or travel agent in advance.

Barcelona Intl

Barcelona Airport (BCN):www.aena.es is located 12km (8 miles) southwest of central Barcelona.

To / from the airport: The Aerobus service goes to and from Placa de Catalunya every 15 minutes, dropping off at locations along the way. Trains run from the airport to various stations in the city centre every 30 minutes, costing around €2.40; the airport station is located near Terminal A and is connected to the terminal by a moving walkway. There are taxi ranks outside the airport terminals; taxis are metered.

Facilities: ATMs, currency exchange facilities, banks, shops (including duty free), a children's play area, wireless internet access, VIP lounges, bars and restaurants. Disabled facilities are good; those with special needs should contact their airline in advance.

Belfast City

George Best Belfast City Airport (BHD):www.belfastcityairport.com lies 3km (2 miles) east of Belfast.

To/from the airport: Regular train and bus services run to the city centre.

Facilities: Shops, ATMs, bureau de change, Wi-Fi, duty-free, cafes and bar.

Belfast Intl

Belfast International Airport (BFS)www.belfastairport.com. The airport is located 30km (18 miles) northwest of Belfast.

To / from the airport: The Airport Express 300 service runs every 10 minutes between the airport and Belfast city centre. The bus departs from the front of the terminal building and travels to Belfast Europa Buscentre; stopping at Templepatrick on request A service operated by Airporter is also available to Derry/Londonderry. Taxi: International Airport Taxis Company taxis leave from outside the terminal building.

Facilities: Bureau de change, several ATMs, postal facilities, telephones and internet kiosks. Wireless internet access is available. There is a café and bar in the main Departures lounge and a full range of food outlets in the food court. Shops include newsagents/bookshops, duty-free, a tax-free electronics store and a gift shop. Lost and found items can be collected or deposited at the information desk in the Arrivals hall.

Birmingham

Birmingham International Airport (BHX)www.bhx.co.uk is located 13km (8 miles) southeast of Birmingham.

To / from the airport: The free Air-Rail shuttle service links the airport directly to nearby Birmingham International Train Station in about two minutes. Frequent services connect Birmingham International with New Street in the city centre. Local buses link the airport to the surrounding district. National Express operates long-distance coach services. Black cabs are available on a rank outside the terminals.

Facilities: Bureau de change and ATMs, postal facilities, cafes, restaurants, bars and fast-food outlets, shops, left-luggage facility, 24-hour medical centres and a prayer room.
