General Mitchell International is Wisconsin's largest airport with around eight million passengers using it annually. Its 12 airlines fly nonstop to about 50 cities. Considered by flyers to be uncrowded and convenient, it is seen as a good alternative to Chicago O' Hare.

Road: Shuttles: Airport Connection (tel: +1 414 769 2444) provide shared shuttle van services to city centre hotels and business locations, available daily 24 hours. Coach: Badger Coaches (tel: +1 414 276 7490) runs to Johnson Creek and Madison. Public buses operated by the Milwaukee County Transit System (tel: +1 414 344 6711) serves Milwaukee County; bus no.80 runs to Sixth Street in downtown Milwaukee (journey time: 25 minutes). Wisconsin Coach Lines (tel: +1 262 542 8861) operates a service to Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha Counties. Ground transportation information and timetables are available at the information desk. All services leave from the large traffic island outside Arrivals; buses use the south end, while shuttles and taxi use the centre and north end. A coordinator is on hand to provide assistance, the booth is located in the centre of the island.

Daily (long-term) and hourly (short-term) parking is available in the airport’s main multi-storey car park, which is connected to the terminal by walkways with travelators. Other parking options include a surface car park located immediately south of the parking garage, close to the terminal and two remote car parks (Remote Lots A and B), although during non-peak periods, only one of these two lots may be open. There are free shuttle services to/from the remote car parks to the terminal building, running daily 24 hours. The first half-hour of parking in any airport car park is free of charge.

Money and communications: ATMs are located in the main terminal and near the entrance to concourse E.
Eating and drinking: There is a restaurant and a wide range of snack bars, cafés and bars.
Shopping: There are shops located throughout the terminal and concourses, including a sweet shop, Harley-Davidson store, newsagent and gift shop, and a second-hand book store.
Luggage: Trolleys are available.
Other facilities: A family care room with baby change facilities and children’s play area is located on the south end of the airport mall, near the entrance to the walkway link to the main car park.

Airport facilities are wheelchair-accessible and TDD telephones are located throughout. Disabled toilets are available in the family care room. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel. Skycap porters are available to assist with wheelchairs. Avis, Budget and Hertz offer hand-controlled hire cars (reservations should be made several days in advance). There are disabled parking spaces in the main car park and assistance can be provided; walkways with travelators connect to the terminal building on level 3 and lifts provide access from all levels of the parking garage. Disabled parking is also available in the surface car park. Passengers should use the white courtesy telephones in the car parks and the terminal buildings.

Business facilities are located at the north end of the upper level precinct near the entrance to Concourse C and include phone and fax facilities. Parcel delivery services and postage stamp machines can be found at the same location. Conference rooms are available for hire (tel: +1 414 747 5300). Midwest Express Airlines and Northwest Airlines have airline clubs at the airport, offering conference rooms, computers, internet access and fax facilities to members.
