Sioux Falls Regional Airport, also known as Joe Foss Field Airport, is 6km (almost 4 miles) from the centre of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the largest city between Minneapolis and Denver. Founded in 1883, this Midwestern city has about 150,000 permanent residents and is a major tourist gateway to the northern Great Plains.
Named for famous aviator Joe Foss, the airport began its life as a military base during World War II, and still serves as a Midwestern base of operations for the Air Force. Today it averages more than 200 commercial flights per day, moving more than 700,000 passengers per year.
Direct flights to Sioux Falls Regional Joe Foss Field Airport include those from Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Dallas, Denver, Orlando, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Las Vegas. There are also connecting flights to more than 200 cities across the country.

Train: Sioux Falls Transit operates a trolley system from the downtown area through the city from 10am to 8pm in summer.
Bus: The Sioux Falls Bus Depot in Russell Street has long-distance connections to most major cities in the US, and some in Canada and Mexico. There are also about 15 Sioux Falls Transit public bus routes through the city, with fares at $1 for an adult.
There are self-service check-in kiosks in the terminal.
Money and communications: The airport has ATMs, but no currency exchange facilities.
Luggage: There are no left-luggage facilities for security reasons. For lost-luggage queries, contact the airline concerned.
Conference and business: There's a conference room with projection equipment, Internet and telephones that seats up to 42 people. It costs $25 for half a day or $50 for a full day and catering is available.
Other facilities: Self-service check-in kiosks in the check-in area.
