Getting into Town

Train: The Newcastle Airport Metro station is next to the passenger terminal - just turn left as you exit Arrivals. It'll take 20–25 minutes to get into the city centre and the trains run regularly. Tickets cost £3-£4 depending on whether you want a single, return or unlimited day ticket.

Bus: At less than £2 to the city centre, the bus is the most cost-effective option. Buses leave every 20 minutes during the day.

Taxi: Airport Taxis is the official taxi service for Newcastle Airport. A fare to the city costs in the region of £20-£25.

Car Parking

The Express car park is directly opposite the terminal building and costs £1 for 20 minutes, £2.50 for 30 minutes, £4 for 45 minutes and £6 per hour. The short stay car park is next to it and slightly cheaper at £2.50 for 30 minutes and £4.60 for the first hour. It costs £17.50 per day, or less if you book online. If you're planning on leaving your car for a few days, however, a better bet would be the medium- or long-stay car parks, which are next to each other a little further away (a five-minute walk from the main terminal). The medium-stay park is free for the first 15 minutes, and there's a courtesy shuttle from the long-stay car park.
