Piedmont Triad International Airport is part of a 4,000-acre campus in North Carolina that houses more than 50 companies. An airport has existed on the site since 1927, although the current airport was opened in 1982, called Greensboro-High Point Airport. It was renamed Piedmont Triad International in 1987. Seven airlines - Allegiant, American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United and US Airways - fly from the airport. More than two million passengers used the airport in 2008.

Getting into Town

Road: Taxi: Taxi and shuttle services are provided by Central Piedmont Transportation (tel: +1 336 668 9808 or 1 877 796 5466). Shuttle: Many of the hotels in the area offer complimentary shuttle services between the airport and their own premises.

Car Parking

Public parking is available in a multi-level parking garage with 1,910 spaces. Surface lots for long-term parking are located across from the terminal building. Additional overflow parking is available to the north of the terminal and on satellite lots nearby. All long-term and satellite lots are served regularly by airport shuttles.

Information Desks

Three information booths are located throughout the terminal. They are staffed by volunteers who assist the public with airport, airline and tourism information.

Eating and drinking: There are restaurants, bars and snack outlets on the upper level in the terminal building.

Shopping: A news-stand and three gift shops are located on the upper level.

Other facilities: On-site chair massage for airport customers is located on the north concourse. There is a chapel on the lower level of the terminal.

Airport Disabled Facilities

Parking spaces for disabled visitors are provided throughout the parking facility on both levels and in the surface long-term lot. Shuttle buses to and from the long-term parking area are equipped with lifts. Wheelchairs are available at the airport.
