Port Columbus International in Ohio opened in 1929 on a site chosen by Charles Lindbergh, the famous aviator. There are approximately 336 daily arrivals and departures. The Ohio airport has nine tenant airlines including American, Continental, Delta and Northwest.  In 2007, more than seven million passengers used CMH.

Getting into Town

Road: Taxi: Metered taxis are available 24 hours from outside the Departures level; trips outside Franklin County are not metered and should be agreed upon in advance. Bus: The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) operates buses from outside the Departures level. For further information, contact COTA Connection (tel: +1 614 228 1776). Shuttles to downtown Port Columbus run every 20 minutes. Walk-up service is available from Arch Transportation (tel: +1 614 252 2277), Super Shuttle (tel: +1 614 868 8888) and Urban Express Transportation (tel: +1 614 840 0411).

Car Parking

There is long- and short-term parking in a six-level parking garage attached to the airport via atrium and an underground walkway, which connects to both Arrivals and Departures. Long-term parking is available on levels 3-6; short-term parking is also available on levels 4 and 5. Passenger pick-up and drop-off is available next to levels 1-3; valet parking is available on the ticketing level of the terminal. There is further long-term parking at the remote blue and red car parks, which are connected to the airport by frequent 24-hour shuttle buses.

Information Desks

The airport information desk is located on the baggage reclaim level and provides airport and tourist information, including maps and guides. Recorded airport information (tel: +1 614 239 4083) is also available. Airport ambassadors are on hand in the terminal building to provide airport tours and information; they are easily recognisable by their blue jackets.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: ATMs are located on the ticketing level. A bureau de change and postal facilities can be found in the Airport Business Centre at the entrance to concourse C. A postal centre is also available on the ticketing level, in the vicinity of concourse B. Wireless internet is available at the airport. A post office is situated near the multi-storey car park.

Eating and drinking: There are a selection of fast-food outlets at the food court in the heart of Gateway Plaza, as well as a golf-themed full service restaurant and bar on concourse C. The airport also has a number of other restaurants, cafés, bars and snack bars. There is also a restaurant and fast-food outlet in the airport grounds.

Shopping: Newsagents and gift shops are located on each of the concourses. There is also a golf shop, a book shop, gift and souvenir shops, men’s fashion and a toiletries shop on the ticketing level. A sweet shop is situated in the main lobby.

Luggage: A lost property service is available on the mezzanine level, above the food court in Gateway Plaza (tel: +1 614 239 5035). A porter service is available from Skycaps at the north and south entrance areas and also on the baggage reclaim level; the service is available for all departing flights.

Other facilities: These include a first aid station, a pet rest area, family toilet facilities and an interfaith meditation room.

There are courtesy telephones at a hotel information board located near the baggage claim belts for reservations and to request a shuttle service from the airport.

Airport Disabled Facilities

The airport is easily accessible to disabled passengers and fitted with ramps, lifts with Braille and well signposted TDD telephones throughout the terminal. There is also a wheelchair service available on request; passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should contact their airline prior to travel. The airport also has family restrooms to better serve the disabled and families with children. Disabled parking is available in the multi-storey parking garage; long-term car park shuttles are wheelchair-accessible.

Airport Conference and Business Facilities

The Airport Business Centre (tel: +1 614 237 9224) is located at the entrance to Concourse C. Facilities include bureau de change, notary service, fax, photocopier, conference rooms, computer suites and overnight delivery services. Business and conference facilities are also available at the on-site hotels. The Concourse Hotel (tel: 800 541 4574 toll free USA and Canada only) has 18 meeting rooms, the Comfort Suites (tel: 800 424 6423 toll free USA and Canada only) has business services and multiple meeting rooms, and the Hilton Garden Inn (tel: 800 445 8667 toll free USA and Canada only) has a 24-hour business centre.

From Indianapolis, take I-70 east to I-71 north, follow I-71 to I-670 east and take I-670 to exit 9. From Cincinnati, take I-71 north to I-270 east, follow I-270 to exit 35.

Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise , Hertz, National and Thrifty are all represented at the airport. Car hire desks and pick-up/drop off is on levels 1 and 2 of the multi-storey car park, which is connected to the terminal.
