At just 5.6km (3.5 miles) from the Rotterdam city centre, Rotterdam The Hague Airport is the third-largest airport in the Netherlands, serving just over one million passengers a year. With just over one million inhabitants itself, Rotterdam is the second-largest city in the country (after Amsterdam), and known for its interesting range of old and modern architecture.
There are flights to Rotterdam The Hague Airport from major hubs in Europe such as Alicante, Prague, Antalya, Milan, Barcelona, Heraklion, Palma de Mallorca, Madrid and Vienna, including daily flights to London, Malaga and Rome.
This is a compact airport with decent shops and eateries considering its size, as well as good public transport links to the city centre. You should be in and out without much hassle.

Train: RandstadRail is a high-speed train that links the airport with The Hague, Leidschendam, Pijacker, Zoetermeer and Rotterdam Central Station. From the central station you can catch trains to Antwerp, Brussels and Paris. The slower, national NS train service also travels around the inner city as well as to nearby towns. To use public transport, you'll need to buy an “OV-Chipkaart” (Public Transport Chip Card) from a newsagent at the airport. Tourists can buy an anonymous OV-Chipkaart for €7.50 from ticket machines in all metro and train stations.
Bus: The RET bus No. 50 connects to the Meijersplein metro station where you can transfer to line E to the city centre – a round trip of about 20 minutes overall. For a more direct route, the No. 33 bus will get you to Rotterdam Central Station in about 25 minutes. The B12 line operates at night and in the early morning.
Money and communications: 24-hour bank, ATMs and currency exchange.
Luggage: For lost-luggage queries, contact the airline involved. If you've misplaced items within the terminal, head for the airport information desk.
Conference and business: There are a number of airline lounges and world-class conference facilities available. The Rotterdam Airport Lounge is free to business travellers, otherwise you'll need to pay a fee on entry.
Other facilities: Post office, baby-changing facilities, travel agents.
Wi-Fi: There is free Wi-Fi throughout the airport.
