Louisville International describes itself as a low-fare airport. About four million passengers used it in 2008. There is non-stop service to more than 20 destinations and connections to cities worldwide. It is also home to Kentucky’s Air National Guard and is UPS's international air-sorting hub.

Getting into Town

Limousine: Limousines can also be hired from a variety of companies, including Ambassador Capital Limousine (tel: +1 502 964 7139), Cosmopolitan Limousine (tel: +1 502 639 0625) and R&R Limousine Service (tel: +1 502 957 4254). Bus: TARC (tel: +1 502 585 1234) city buses also operate between Louisville and the airport and offer a 24 hour service. Several hotels and motels provide courtesy shuttle services.

Car Parking

There is space for 5,625 cars at the airport in a covered and a remote car park. Garage levels 1-3 offer covered parking, while level 4 and the remote car park are uncovered. Drivers may park in any car park, but the remote car park offers the best value for long-term parking. Free shuttles run from the remote car park to the terminal building. A free short-term waiting zone is available for drivers picking up passengers at the airport.

A central information desk (tel: +1 502 367 6524/INFO) is located in the lower level baggage claim area and is open seven days a week.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: A bank and bureau de change is located on the upper level of the terminal and ATMs can be found in the terminal building. The airport also has telephones, several equipped with data ports, and a post box. Wireless internet is also available.
Eating and drinking: There are restaurants, bars, fast-food outlets and cafés at the airport.
Shopping: There are newsagents, gift shops, a convenience store, a bookshop and a golf shop.
Luggage: There is left-luggage at the airport. A lost property service is handled by the airport police (tel: +1 502 380 8264).
Other facilities: A game room and shoeshine service are available.

There are plans for a new Wyndham Airport Hotel that will be connected to the airport. Hotels near the airport include the Econo Lodge (tel: +1 502 966 5445), Executive Inn Hotel (tel: +1 502 367 6161), Hampton Inn (tel: +1 502 366 8100), Holiday Inn Airport South (tel: +1 502 964 3311) and Sleep Inn Louisville Airport (tel: +1 502 368 9597).

Airport Disabled Facilities

The airport has specially-designed ramps and kerbs, and lifts fitted with Braille control buttons. There is one TDD telephone per bank of telephones; telephones are wheelchair-accessible. For wheelchairs and assistance with boarding, disabled passengers should contact their airline. Two eight-passenger chauffeured electric carts and a 93m (310ft) escalator transport passengers to/from gates. Reduced-rate disabled parking is available in the covered car park, close to lifts.
