Around 60 airlines use Stuttgart Airport, and more than ten million passengers used it in 2007. It is situated 13km (8 miles) south of the city centre and is the seventh-busiest airport in Germany. Low-cost carriers Germanwings and TUIfly both use the four-terminal airport as a hub.

Rail: The airport is connected to central Stuttgart by commuter trains S2 (Schorndorf) and S3 (Backnang), which both serve Stuttgart central station (journey time: 30 minutes). Stuttgart central station is served by S-Bahn trains for destinations throughout Stuttgart, and high-speed intercity, express and regional trains to destinations throughout Germany. The S-Bahn station is in Terminal 1 level 1.
Road: Taxi: There is a 24-hour taxi service to Stuttgart (journey time: 20 minutes); the taxi rank is situated in front of Terminal 1 level 3 (Departures). Bus: There are several direct bus links to destinations in and around Stuttgart, departing from outside Terminal 1 Arrivals level. The following buses serve the airport: line 33 Nuertlingen-Airport, line 7556 Isny, Ravensburg-Airport, line 809 Neuenhaus, Aich-Airport, line 122 Esslingen-Airport via Plieningen, and the Airport Springer line 828 Tuebingen-Airport.

There are a number of parking options at the airport. Short-term parking is available in car parks P1 and P3, and the covered garages P4 and P6; for long-term (vacation), use car parks P0, P2 (covered), P8 (covered), P10 (covered) and P11 (covered); the first hour of parking in P0 is free. Long-term parking is also available in P4 during the summer holidays and can be reserved in advance (tel: +49 (0)711 948 4510). Car parks are open 24 hours. Parking is also available at the P-Hotel car park, outside the airport hotel.

Money and communications: Facilities include ATMs in Terminal 1 and a bank with bureau de change facilities in Terminal 1.
Eating and drinking: There are restaurants, cafés and bars in Terminal 1 (levels 2, 3 and 4) and a bar in Terminal 4 (level 2); drive-through fast-food is available in car park P4.
Shopping: There are a variety of shops in Terminal and a supermarket in Terminal 2 level 3. Duty-free is available in Terminal 1 level 3 and Terminal 4 level 2.
Luggage: There is a lost property office at the airport (tel: +49 (0)711 948 3355). A porter service is available (tel: 0049 (0)711 948 4570).
Other facilities: These include a visitors’ terrace, car repair service and petrol station. Sightseeing helicopter flights from the airport can also be arranged. There are a number of travel agencies in Terminals 1 and 4 level 3.

Assistance for disabled travellers is available from airlines and/or travel agencies, but passengers are required to arrange this in advance. The airport is fully accessible with lifts, ramps and electronic revolving doors that adjust their speed to the respective passenger; wheelchair-accessible toilets are situated on all levels. There are also wheelchair-accessible telephones available. Disabled parking is clearly marked. Europcar provides hire cars for disabled drivers; reservations must be made in advance.

Catering can be arranged. A conference facility for up to 400 people is available at the Atrium Conference and Banqueting Centre (tel: +49 (0)711 948 2700; fax: +49 (0)711 797 9210) in Terminal 1, level 4. There are 18 different rooms, which can accommodate up to 400 people; rooms are equipped with projectors, a sound system, a variable blackout facility, sound proofing and air conditioning. The internet Office provides internet access at computer terminals or data ports for laptops; a videoconferencing room is also available. A business team can provide secretarial support and the Atrium can arrange hotel and restaurant bookings, flight reservations, car hire and checking-in.
