Tucson was home to America’s first municipal airport by 1919. Ten airlines currently serve Tucson International Airport, providing nonstop service to 15 cities and connections to hundreds of destinations. There are 63 daily flights with approximately 6,741 seats available. Tucson has two large low-fare airlines, US Airways and Southwest Airlines.

Getting into Town

Road: Taxi: Three taxi companies are contracted to provide a service from the airport: AAA Airport Taxi, Allstate Cab and Yellow Cab. There is no extra charge for baggage or for more than one person travelling to the same location. Taxis are located on the lower level in front of the terminal. Bus: Buses no.11 and 25 run to/from the airport; this service is operated by Sun Tran (tel: +1 520 792 9222). Arizona Stagecoach operates a shared-ride minibus service after each flight arrival; rates vary depending on the destination and their reservation desk is located in the centre corridor of the baggage level (tel: +1 520 889 1000).

Car Parking

There are long-term and short-term car parks in front of the main terminal building (tel: +1 520 573 8400). An additional secure Park 'n Save car park (tel: +1 520 573 8400) is located on Corona Drive between South Tucson Boulevard and South Country Club Road; a 24-hour shuttle bus runs between the terminal and the car park.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: There are ATMs on the ticketing level in the centre core, and post boxes and stamp machines are located on each concourse. There is no bureau de change facility at the airport.

Eating and drinking: There are restaurants on the east and west concourses, both selling regional specialities: a Mexican restaurant and bar are located on the third floor of the terminal. There is also a snack bar and coffee shop on the ticketing level centre core, and a restaurant located opposite the Executive Terminal, open for lunch only, Mon-Fri.

Shopping: Shops include a newsagents, gift shops selling regional crafts, jewellery and accessories, a PGA golf shop and a sunglasses shop.

Luggage: A lost property office is situated at the centre of the ticketing level (tel: +1 520 573 8156). Trolleys are available throughout the airport.

Other facilities: A first aid service is available. Shoeshine is also available. Permanent and rotating art exhibitions are on display throughout the terminal complex. The military lounge on the ticketing level provides food and transportation for all active and retired military personnel.

All of these hotels operate a free shuttle service to/from the airport; hotels can be contacted at the information centres located in Arrivals. Airport Disabled Facilities

Disabled toilets are located on the ticketing level of the centre core and there are TDD payphones and lower level information centres on both concourses. Wheelchairs are available from Skycap porters; passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel. The Park ‘n Save car park operates wheelchair-accessible shuttles to the terminal.

Airport Conference and Business Facilities

There are three conference rooms on the third level of the centre core, bookings can be made on weekdays after 8am (tel:+1 520 573 8100 / 8225). Data ports are available throughout the terminal and there is an internet café on the east concourse. The lost property office in the centre core of the ticketing level can provide a fax, photocopy and notary service; fax and notary services are also available at the information centres in the baggage reclaim area.

Directions

From the city centre and Univeristy of Arizona, take Campbell Avenue, which turns into Kino Parkway south of Broadway. Follow signs to Tucson Boulevard and the airport entrance. From East Side, take Kolb Road south to Valencia, then travel west on Valencia to Tucson Boulevard, and turn south into the airport entrance. From Midtown, take Alvernon south to Palo Verde, then continue south on Palo Verde to Valencia and travel west to Tucson Boulevard, then south to the airport entrance. From the south, take I-19 north to Valencia, then turn on eastbound Valencia and continue east to Tucson Boulevard and the airport entrance. From the northwest, take I-10 west to South Kino Parkway exit and follow signs to Tucson Boulevard and the airport entrance.

Car Rentals

Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz and National are all represented. Car hire desks are located on level 3 of the car hire car park, which is immediately next to the terminal.
