King Khaled International in Riyadh lies between two wadis and has more than 50 hectares of landscaping. This green, modern, majestic airport opened in 1983 and combines traditional Arab design with the latest technology. It has four passenger terminals offering domestic and international flights with Saudi Arabian Airlines and foreign carriers.

Terminal Transfer

The terminals are all housed within the same building, connected by linking buildings. Travelators in the three link buildings connecting the International and Domestic terminals assist transfers within the passenger complex.

Getting into Town

Road: Taxi: Authorised prepaid taxis marked with the airport logo are available 24 hours a day to the city centre (journey time: 30 minutes). By law, taxis must have a meter and passengers should check this before setting off. Limousine: Limousines are available 24 hours a day to the city centre (journey time: 30 minutes). There are no public transport options to/from the airport.

Car Parking

Two large three-level garages are located directly in front of the passenger terminals, one on either side of the airport mosque; they are connected to the terminals and to the mosque by pedestrian walkways.

Each terminal has an operations office, which provides passenger information; staff are bilingual.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: Two 24-hour banks and a post office operate in Terminal 2 and there are ATMs in Terminals 2 and 3.
Eating and drinking: There are restaurants, snack bars and cafés throughout the airport, available 24-hours in both Domestic and International terminals. There are no bars (alcohol is illegal in Saudi Arabia).
Shopping: Shops are available throughout the airport, including speciality shops; all merchandise is duty-free.
Other facilities: There is a first aid centre open 24 hours and a mosque.

Airport Hotels

The Sahara Airport Hotel (tel: +966 (0)1 220 4500) is located 6km (4 miles) from the airport. Riyadh hotels include the Holiday Inn Riyadh (tel: +966 (0)1 478 2500), Hyatt Regency Riyadh (tel: (0)1 479 1234), Riyadh InterContinental Hotel (tel: +966 (0)1 465 5000), Riyadh Marriott Hotel (tel: +966 (0)1 477 9300) and the Sheraton Riyadh Hotel and Towers (tel: +966 (0)1 454 3300). Major hotels have personnel on duty at the airport hotel information counters in the lobby; many hotels offer courtesy transportation to/from the airport.

Airport Disabled Facilities

Facilities include disabled toilets and specially adapted telephones. Disabled car parking spaces are available. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should request this from their airline prior to travel.

Driving Directions

Major roads to the airport are King Fahd Road, Al-Takhassousi Road and the East Interstate Highway.

Car Rentals

Ten car hire companies, including Avis, Budget and Hertz, operate at the airport. Counters can be found in the airport lobby. Please note: Women are not allowed to drive on public roads in Saudi Arabia.
