Reasons to fly to Altinkum

Legend has it that after God shaped Adam and Eve out of clay, he rubbed his hands clean and the excess clay dropped into the Aegean Sea and became the islands and beaches of this as-beautiful-as-man region.

In English Altinkum means "Golden Sand". The beaches are magnificent, washed by gentle lapping waters and wrapped around Altinkum Bay - there are two beaches, one on each side of the town.

The resort is quieter than Bodrum and Kusadasi, suitable for families and those hoping for an relaxed beach holiday. Travellers seeking Altinkum flights have a choice of airports to fly into - Bodrum or Izmir.

Altinkum insider information

  • This is a newly built resort to cater for the popularity of Turkey’s southern coastline, with low rise apartments round hotels rather than high rise blocks.
  • There is a soft sandy beach with a great range of watersports but it does get crowded in high season.
  • Buy Turkish Delight – which is less sweet and more chewy than the confectionery varieties at home.
  • As you leave a shop or a stall, say goodbye in Turkish. The Turkish words are "gule gule" (pronounced goolay goolay) which is easy to remember and fun to say.
