Reasons to fly to Courmayeur

The classy resort of Courmayeur sits in a stunning location on the Italian side of Mont Blanc. Within the resort itself are more than 80 miles of piste suitable for beginners and intermediates, but many more experienced skiers book flights to Courmayeur in order to use it as a base from which to explore the Chamonix Valley. The huge Mont Blanc tunnel, opened in 1965, which connects to Courmayeur to Chamonix, turned a traditional mountain spa town into a popular ski resort. The town still has the charm of an Alpine village and there are plenty of spa activities still on offer to enjoy as après-ski.

The resort draws all sorts of skiers. Its excellent beginner’s slopes mean it is popular with families; experienced skiers can access some of the best conditions in Europe; and even non-skiers are seduced by the Italian charm and cobbled streets filled with designer shops. At the weekend, Italian visitors from Milan and Turin flock to the resort. Courmayeur flights are available to airports at either of those towns and the onward transfer is relatively short.
