Cheap flights & travel

The skiing town of Flaine is not known for its attractive appearance. One of the first purpose-built resorts in Europe, the town is a rather ugly assortment of large concrete buildings, with none of the chalet charm found in many other French ski resorts. But what Flaine offers more than makes up for its lack of chocolate-box beauty: some of the best slopes in Europe and almost-guaranteed snow.

Set in the middle of the Grand Massif area, Flaine is unrivalled in its range of slopes. Skiers of all ability book flights to Flaine: its nursery slopes are perfect for beginners (making it one of the most popular resorts for families), there are plenty of long red runs for intermediates and nearly 20 challenging blacks in the Flaine and Grand Massif area. All 133 pistes throughout the area are well-connected by lifts. Furthermore, the resort has one of the best snow records in France and also has more than 200 snow cannons, to top up the pistes if needed.

It is a popular family resort for good reason. Along with the excellent nursery slopes, Flaine is home to one of the best ski schools and a good kindergarten. The short transfer time is also appealing to families with young children: Flaine flights arrive at Geneva Airport, which is just over an hour away by road.

When to Fly to Flaine

Peak season:

The excellent snow conditions mean the season runs for a long time, from early December to April. The most popular times are the week of Christmas and New Year and the February half term, when prices will rise.

Off season:

If the cost of travelling during the peak season is prohibitive, consider the latest or earliest weeks of the season. Though snow cover is less certain, the resort has plenty of cannons and this can be the perfect time to find cheap flights to Flaine and deals on hotels. The resort is still busy in the summer months once the snow has passed.
