Reasons to fly to Kefalos

If the bigger, brasher resorts on the island of Kos seem too full of tourists and noise, then Kefalos could be the perfect destination. Perching on a hillside, overlooking the beautifully blue sea, this is a quieter location from which to enjoy the stunning Greek island. Holidaymakers book flights to Kefalos in search of some time for contemplation and relaxation among beautiful surroundings. The long beach is as attractive as any on the island, but much less busy than those at Kardamena. There is also a range of attractions in easy reach for days spent sightseeing, including the monastery of St Ioannis.

Kefalos insider information

  • Strike up a conversation with the owner of a taverna. Ask for retsina, the local wine and praise it. It may well have been made by the owner who will be delighted. This is the quietest place on Kos for a holiday, and the best place to strike up a conversation.
  • Kefalos Beach is lovely, with good vegetation, to help you keep cool in high summer. Discover other nearby beaches by boat or by walking over the cliff paths. There is excellent water sports and windsurfing.
  • Take flip flops or buy them locally as the beach is pebbly, and the stones can hurt especially in the mid-day heat.
