Reasons to fly to Kos Town

Egyptians, Romans, Ottomans and Venetians have all called this ancient port town home at some point. Read up on the attractions on your flight to Greece and make a note to explore the ruins of Roman baths and amphitheatre in Kos, as well as the 15th-century castle.

Kos is a great mixture of new and old. Modern bars and restaurants stand next to an old harbour filled with traditional fishing boats and gleaming yachts.

There are many beautiful beaches on Kos, just a couple in Kos Town. These include Lambi Beach, at the western end of town, and Psalidi Beach, which is just 3.5km to the east.

Kos Town insider information

  • Kos Town the modern capital is separate from the old ruined town of Kos on the other end of the island. The architecture is a great mix - modern buildings, elegant Italian public buildings, Greek and Roman ruins and medieval battlements.
  • In the crescent area round the harbour and the marketplace you can buy jewellery from a smart goldsmith in one shop and then pop next door for some tomatoes and feta cheese for lunch.
  • The beach esplanade near the castle is the best area for tavernas and restaurants.
