The fortress of Saint George’s Castle offers a great view of the River Tagus and the Alfama medieval district below it. The walls surrounding the castle were built during the 11th-century Moorish occupation. The castle sits atop a hill guarding the Tagus, where you can walk the esplanades and climb the ramparts.
