Situated in Andorra, at the very top of the Pyrenees, between Spain and France, the ski resort of Pas de la Casa is fast gaining popularity among the European ski destinations. The resort is not a pretty one, but what it may lack in beauty it more than makes up for in convenience and quality of skiing. Known colloquially as “Pas”, the town is the highest of all the resorts in Andorra and has the best snow record. In 2004, Pas de la Casa was joined with the neighbouring Soldeau to create the large area of Grandvalira, which has an extensive ski area of around 125 miles of piste, all connected by well-serviced lifts. The ski area is especially suited to beginners with plenty of blue and green runs.
The resort itself is a lively one, with plenty of après-ski and, most appealingly to many who book a cheap flight to Pas de la Casa, it enjoys a duty-free status.

- Take the lift to improve your snowboarding. The Grau Roig park and half pipe has a lift directly from Pas so you can save your energy and be with the crowd at the same time. Or go to Mont Malus for the good black and red runs down through the trees.
- Start your skiing here. Ski school is good, there’s lots of snowmaking equipment and plenty of bars to relax in and talk about it all afterwards.
- How do you say thank you? The official language is Andorran Catalan which is a fusion of Spanish and French, but most people speak Spanish and some French. If you say "moltes gracias", "merci" or "muchas gracias" and smile you will be understood.
