Playa Del Cura flights and travel guide

Playa del Cura means the "Priest's Beach". Lying west of Puerto Rico on the southwest coast of Gran Canaria, it's a small resort built on the sides of the cliffs that line the coast.

Popular with families, Playa del Cura is quiet and laidback with a small selection of shops and bars. A good transport network of buses and taxis means that the bigger, livelier resorts are easily accessible however.

There are two small beaches, Cura and Tauro, with dark sands and pebbles. The popular Amadores beach is nearby.

Travellers taking flights to Playa del Cura land at the airport in Las Palmas, about an hour by car from the resort.

Playa Del Cura Insider Information

• Good quality new apartments and hotels attractively laid out with their own swimming pools, which means less pressure on the beach. This area is developing and new bars and restaurants are being added all the time.
• If you are looking for activity there is a golf club nearby at Anfi Golf Resort complex, or walking and hiking inland from Puerto Morgan.
• For a complete change of scene take a day trip to the centre of the island to the Pico de Nieves area which includes a rock held sacred by earlier inhabitants. You can get to the highest and most central places in Gran Canaria and it may be misty and cool at the top.
