• The name, English Beach, should give you a clue. Yes it is a very tourist-ridden area with hotels, bars and restaurants that stretch for miles, but there’s lots of nightlife, and the beach is soft and sandy.
• Get to know your rum. The local rum ron miel is weaker than traditional rum and tastes rather different. Alcohol content in rum varies from 40-80 per cent and although it is well known as part of daiquiris it is often added to all drinks, including lemonade.
