A one-time fishing village, Puerto del Morgan is one of the prettiest resorts on Gran Canaria.
Travellers booking flights to Puerto del Morgan will discover a quiet and upmarket holiday resort with a beautiful beach and a busy local marina at which local boats, yachts and cruisers chug in and out. Activities such as sailing, jet skiing, fishing trips, boat tours and jeep safaris are all popular. Puerto del Morgan is also a great spot for diving. There are two wrecks in the harbour and the Morgan Caves where the sealife includes moray eels, yellow gunters and barracudas are about a mile away.
The original village of Morgan is 10km (6 miles) inland. Rural and quiet, it is a great place to dine on traditional Canarian fare.
While Puerto del Morgan might lack the lively nightlife of neighbouring Puerto Rico, there are some lovely bars and restaurants serving locally caught seafood. For a bigger night out, Puerto Rico is a short drive away, just 14km (9 miles).

- Puerto Morgan is an attractive sandy beach between rocky cliffs. It looks natural but is man-made and uses sand that was imported from Africa, not far away. This is a popular tourist area but you can get some peace and quiet.
- Stay in colourful apartments decorated with flowers, and walk around on narrow car-free streets. The marina is also purpose-built and all the shops restaurants and bars are found along the waterfront.
- There is a well-known “Blue Marlin” angling competition held here every July, and you can take deep sea boat trips to catch tuna and marlin. Other trips include a yellow submarine (start singing now) to look at the sea life, or a replicas of old sailing ships take you to nearby beaches.
