Reasons to fly to St Moritz

Skiers book flights to St Moritz in their thousands to experience the most traditional of all Swiss ski resorts. This is the place to come if glitz, tradition and glamour is as important as the skiing itself. St Moritz in an old-school ski resort, with arguably the best conditions and most eligible credentials to be found anywhere in Europe. Host of the Winter Olympics on two occasions and the location of the famous Cresta Run for tobogganing, St Moritz is also a traditional spa town dating from the Middle Ages. The architecture itself may be a bit ugly, but look to the mountains, sip from a hot chocolate and people-watch, rather than looking back to the resort.

The snow record here is good, but equally importantly, the sun shines year-round, which makes for a more relaxing winter holiday. Experienced skiers may need to travel a bit further to find some challenging runs. St Moritz can cater more for beginners and intermediates – or those who want to pose in their ski gear, rather than utilising it.

The local airport is Zurich. Trains from Zurich to St Moritz run at frequent intervals throughout the day.
