Worthing, on the south coast of Barbados, has a gleaming white beach for sunbathing and relaxing, a few laid-back bars, as well as boats and waverunners for hire. Even through it is only five minutes walk away from busier St Lawrence Gap, it is possible to get away from the crowds. Holidaymakers combine a cheap flight to Worthing with discounted accommodation for a less expensive holiday than that found at the larger resorts. There is plenty of good cheap accommodation which is in the south of the town towards the beach. All the banks, shops and supermarkets are to the north, and separated from the residential area by Highway 7. Boat trips to see the colourful marine life are plentiful, and the fish are clearly visible through the glass bottom of the boat.

- The stars are bright in Barbados, but to see them even more clearly visit Hay Bayley, the island’s only observatory. Situated northwest of Worthing, it is the home of the Barbados Astronomical Society
- Take a photograph of the extraordinary aerial roots of the mangrove in one of the last mangrove swamps in Barbados. Graeme Hall Swamp is good for bird-spotting, too, and if you go in the early morning or late evening you are more likely to catch sight of the large herons. Get to the swamp by turning left down a track immediately before arriving at St Lawrence Gap.
