Only the strait of Gibraltar, gateway to the Mediterranean Sea, separates the North West African country of Morocco from Europe, but the cultural divide between the two continents is vast. Cheap flights to Morocco may take less than four hours, but the country feels a world away from the rest of Europe in terms of its cultural differences.
Flights to Morocco open up a world that is mysterious, colourful and a contrasting mix of ancient Arabian civilisation and modern metropolis. From the soaring heights of the High Atlas Mountains down to the sands of the western Sahara and the beach resorts on the north Atlantic coast, Morocco offers unparalleled opportunities for adventure travellers, fascination for sightseers, and plenty of sun and fun for holidaymakers. In recent years, budget airlines have begun to offer cheap flights to Morocco, making it the perfect destination for a low-cost holiday.
Step off your flights to Morocco and you and your travelling companions can step back in time in the Medinas and souks of fabled cities such as Fez, Casablanca, Tangier and Marrakech. Squares and alleyways have changed little since medieval times, presenting an exotic picture where tradesmen ply their ancient crafts, snake charmers enthral, haggling voices compete, and the compelling wail of the muezzins flows from dozens of minarets. Hopefully you will have saved enough money by finding cheap flights to Morocco to buy a beautifully handcrafted souvenir to take home with you.
Peak season:
Morocco enjoys warm temperatures year-round with some rain between November and March. July and August are the hottest months, but the weather varies across the country. Temperatures are high in the south and in the desert area. It's cooler in the mountainous regions.
In April and May, the South, mountains, and the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts enjoy perfect weather. Although it may be more difficult to find cheap flights to Morocco at this time, it's well worth paying a little extra to visit at this lovely time of year.
May has a number of public holidays including Eid El-Mawlid, a privilege holiday for the Queen's Birthday and the late May bank holiday. Booking cheap flights to Morocco may be harder at this time.
During the month-long Muslim religious observance of Ramadan, many restaurants close and alcohol becomes less freely available. Consequently, fewer Western tourists visit the country, so it can be a good time to snap up cheap flights to Morocco.
In February the almond tree blossom festival takes place in Tafraoute.
Off season:
Away from the coast, the summer months of July and August may be unbearably hot for many travellers so while you may be able to find discount flights to Morocco at this time, the weather can really spoil your time here.
