The best time to visit Fayetteville is between the months of March and May and also between the months of October to November. During these times the weather is mild enough to make the most of a wide range of activities without having to worry about getting too warm, too wet or too cold. The leaves are also changing colour, providing a spectacular backdrop to any visit. These months also make up the peak seasons when the cost of flights and hotel rooms tend to be at their highest. Between December and March the weather can be cooler. Between June and September can be uncomfortably hot and humid. Flights are usually cheaper as this is considered the low season. As the city is dominated by the University of Arkansas it becomes extremely crowded whenever the college football team is playing at home. Games take place throughout the year so checking the schedule in advance is a good way to ensure you get the best possible room rate. A week-long biker event takes place each September and makes hotel rooms extremely hard to find at any price.

A vibrant city, nestled in the midst of the beautiful Ozark mountains, with plenty of activities going on day and night all year round, Fayetteville is capable of keeping even the most demanding of visitors thoroughly entertained. As home to the University of Arkansas, the city is at its most lively when the college football team, the Razorbacks, are playing but with a world-class music hall, dozens of nature trails and a thriving arts scene, there is plenty to do even outside of term time. With so much of city life revolving around the university, it’s no surprise that many of the best attractions in Fayetteville are located close to the main campus. Dickinson Street is the main shopping area and is where you can find many of the best bars and restaurants in the city. Dickinson Street also the home base for the Bikes, Blue and BBQ festival, held each September, an event that is the third-largest biker rally in the USA.
Razorback Transit is a free bus service in the city run by the University of Arkansas. Though most of the routes are aimed at students travelling between the campus and the main residential areas, some also provide a cheap and easy way of getting around. For those with their own vehicles, plenty of parking is available in the city centre area and beyond, both on the street and in designated lots.
Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA) is located 17 miles (27 km) northwest of Fayetteville and provides daily direct flights to several major cities in the United States. A number of public and private bus and shuttle services operate from the airport for travel into the centre of Fayetteville and other nearby destinations. Travel time varies according to traffic conditions but should be around half an hour. Taxis can also be hired from the airport and several major car rental companies have offices there.
