Compared to its neighbours, the small ski resort of Morzine is relatively low-lying, set only at 1,000m in the French Alps. But skiers booking flights to Morzine aren’t put off by the altitude. The skiing on offer in the resort may be better suited for beginners looking for easier slopes, but for advanced skiers, Morzine is the perfect spot from which to explore the surrounding area. Even if the snow in Morzine is sparse on the ground, it’s just a short hop to the larger ski area of Avoriaz, and also on to the vast expanses of Flaine and Mont Blanc.
That's not to say Morzine doesn't have its own appeal. It is a charming market town, with beautiful buildings. But the real draw is the cost of accommodation - substantially cheaper than that in the bigger resorts nearby. Morzine flights arrive in Geneva Airport, from where the transfer is relatively quick. Serious skiers, however, may prefer to take a car so they can drive off in search of good snow if needs be.
