The City of Lights is the destination for many a couple in search of romance, but take flights to Paris and you’ll see that there’s a lot more beyond the pursuit of love. The Eiffel Tower is the city’s most famous landmark, and there’s the Arc De Triomphe, the Bastille and Notre Dame. Take the lift to the top of the Tower, constructed by Gustave Eiffel in 1889, for awe-inspiring, panoramic views of Paris. Or, find a space on the grass surrounding the base, and set up a picnic of finest French bread and cheese. Paris is as famous for its restaurants as it is for its architecture and museums. The French have elevated food to an art form and whether it’s a humble baguette or fine, haute cuisine, you can be sure of a superlative meal. There are great eateries in every Arrondissement, a taste sensation around every corner.
Leave space in the bag you bring on your cheap Paris flights. You’ll need it for the high-end items you pick up in the Marais, a noted shopping area, or the bargains you uncover in the flea markets. The Marché d'Aligre is a great one. After you take your Paris flight, go underground – to the Catacombs. These are the sometimes spooky miles of subterranean passages that were used by Parisians to bury their dead in the 18th century, when the city’s cemeteries ran out of space. If you can bear the crowds, make sure you head to the Louvre to get a glimpse of the Mona Lisa, which can be found among other works of art. Then visit the Jardin des Tuileries nearby for a sit down amid the fountains and sculptures. Never mind taking a lover, after just one Paris flight you’ll fall in love with the city itself.
