Peshawar experiences a semi-arid climate, with hot summers and mild winters. Although the city is not in a monsoon region, rain occurs during both the winter and summer, with the most rain falling between February and April.
Winter in the city is mild and runs from the middle of November to late March. If you don’t mind some rain, the winter can be a good time to visit and there is still plenty to do in the city. Visitors may also be able to find cheap flights to Peshawar and lower accommodation rates compared with the early and late summer periods.
The summer extends from May to September and it is generally very hot, with average maximum temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius and minimums of 25 degrees. During the months of June to August the humidity can be quite high. Some tourists choose not to travel to the city over the very hottest part of summer and instead opt for early or late summer when temperatures are more pleasant.
Festive season, school holidays and events like Eid celebrations may result in much higher rates on both hotel accommodation and flights to Peshawar. Some hotels and airlines offer peak season specials for a very short time, so look out for seasonal deals.
