10 skinny-dipping destinations
March 6, 2013

Skinny-dipping is one seriously liberating experience – literally and figuratively!
Each of these 10 destinations makes a great place to strip your clothes off and get your swim on. (kasand took the gorgeous featured image, above.)

Little Beach – Maui, Hawaii
This little cove gets the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) thumbs up.

Golden Beach – North Cyprus
Thousands of turtles love this secluded, remote beach, returning year after year to lay their eggs – not one has lodged a complaint about naked humans in the water.

Maslin Beach – South Australia
It’s home to a Nude Olympics (yes, there’s more than one), need we say more!

Paradise Beach. Photo by pandemia
Paradise Beach – Mykonos, Greece
This place has been swinging (ahem, in the party sense of the word) since the 60s. What better way to cap off a night than with a cleansing dip at dawn!

Orient Bay – Saint Martin
They say if you walk from the north to the south east of this broad sweep of yellow sand there’s an ever-declining volume of clothing on the patrons. Let’s just say, feel free to lose that pair of Speedos or bikini at the end of your stroll. The Atlantic awaits.

Jinata Onsen. Photo via Wikipedia
Jinata Onsen – Shikine Island, Japan
The Japanese have an ancient tradition of bathing in outdoor hot springs (roten-buro). Is it time you indulged in the ritual of naked communion?

Jonkershoek Tweede Waterval – Stellenbosch, South Africa
Fairytale-looking waterfall … check. Rounded, moss-covered boulders … check. Quiet spot … er … not exactly. Skinning sipping here is all about arriving at first light.

Cote d’Azur. Photo by boklm
Various calanques – Côte d’Azur, France
Go calanque-hopping au naturel with a nudist cruise.

Praia de Galheta. Photo by Felipe Skroski
Praia de Galheta – Santa Caterina, Brazil
With no buildings whatsoever, this beach goes as natural as its occupants.

Englischer Garten – Munich, Germany
Skinny-dipping normally requires a quiet secluded spot. The centre of Munich is neither. In the summer, thousands of workers head to the park, (inside the oval bridleway), lose their suits, and hang out naked. Can’t say that about many cities in the world!
