Yellowstone National Park, in the US states of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho is the world’s oldest national park.

The 3,468-square mile area was declared a national park by the US government in 1872. It was world’s first national park, setting a precedent for other areas of natural beauty around the world.

And if there’s one thing Yellowstone does well, it’s natural beauty. The huge park takes in lakes, waterfalls, canyons and plenty of wildlife.

There is plenty of wildlife to be found throughout Yellowstone, although some of the animals do prefer the quieter parts of the park.

There are more than 60 species of mammal that call Yellowstone home. These include the gray wolf, bison, elk and black bears.

The history of Yellowstone stretches back far beyond the arrival of Europeans in North America, with several Native American tribes called the area their home.

So what are you waiting for? Get out to Wyoming and visit one of the most breathtaking natural habitats the world has to offer. Happy birthday Yellowstone!
