Thanks to the lustrous cook, Nigella Lawson, food lovers can enjoy the delights of traditional English grub to their heart’s content without all the trimmings.

The saucy TV chef and food connoisseur, famed for her beauty as much as her cooking, has shed a couple of dress sizes, all the while tweeting about her favourite dishes.

Going from a size 16 to 12 in just six months is down to exercise and healthy eating and while not everyone has Nigella’s food knowledge, the world is your oyster when it comes to eating well. Here are a few tasty parts of the world to enjoy healthy eating.

Japan

It’s no wonder the Japanese have one of the longest life expectancies on the planet – they live on some of the world’s healthiest food. Their dietary intake consists of copious amounts of vegetables such as kale, broccoli and zucchini as well as fish and soy for protein.

Greece

The Mediterranean diet is renowned for being healthy. Once again, vegetables take pride of place with shellfish and healthy doses of olive oil.

Singapore

Singapore boasts a high life expectancy for residents of around 82 years, with a minimal obesity rate.
While some of the foods are doused in fat, they can easily be avoided as brown rice and lots of vegetables are widely available. Fresh fruit and cooked fruit make a sweet alternative for sugary goods.
